So, the total time required for Police Clearance Application Process depends upon the time taken by each stage mentioned above. The last step is rare because the law enforcement authority mostly releases the National Police Clearance on applicant’s first visit.

7 Possible Reasons for Police Clearance Delay in Philippines

The Philippine National Police has made the National Police Clearance System (NPCS) to fasten the processing time for releasing the police clearance. However, not all applicants can get their police clearance on time, sometimes it is delayed due to background verification issues, system backlog, or documentation errors.

Here I am going to tell you the possible reasons for national police clearance delay with different factors affecting the clearance process.

#1. Technical Problem on NPCS Portal

The NPCS Portal is the official website for National Police Clearance online registration and appointment booking. The NPCS website works fine most of the time but sometimes it goes under system maintenance or server downtime. As a result, the online registration and other government services are not available during maintenance period.

If you are unable to access NPCS Portal or the sign-in option does not work, it is possible that the website is facing a technical issue or database verification problem.

It may take a few hours to maximum one day to fix the technical issue, thereafter you can access the NPCS portal to apply for national police clearance online. So, the portal maintenance or technical issues can delay your national police clearance process.

#2. Appointment Slots Not Available

The Philippine National Police provides online appointment booking service at NPCS website. But you can book your clearance appointment based on the availability of slots. Moreover, the online clearance appointment slots are available from Monday to Friday only.

You cannot book the appointment on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays. So, it is possible that you want to book your appointment in next 4-5 days but the appointment slots are not available due to heavy rush of online appointment by other applicants.

Due to high volume of applications and processing queue, appointment slots may not be available for several days, which leads to police clearance processing delay.

When applying for National Police Clearance Online, you have to pay the clearance fee to confirm your appointment. Sometimes the online payment system faces temporary issues or transaction validation delays, which can affect your application status.

If your fee payment is not processed a day before the appointment, your appointment will get cancelled automatically and you will have to book a new appointment.

Police Clearance with Hit and No Hit

During Police Clearance Appointment at the police station, the police personnel(s) will check applicant’s original Government IDs as well as capture applicant’s live photo, signature and biometrics/fingerprints. Thereafter they will take 10-15 minutes for background check and then release the police clearance if there is No Hit.

If there is No Hit, it means no criminal history or derogatory record was found during the criminal record check, and the police clearance is released on the same day.

In case of Police Clearance with Hit, the applicant undergoes additional background verification, and the clearance issuance time increases due to extended review period.

• Book your clearance appointment in early morning or afternoon, reach the police station 10 minutes before time.
• Pay clearance fee online to save time and print payment receipt for appointment.
• Carry Original IDs documents and follow police personnel’s instructions during appointment.
