Thereafter, you need to visit your selected police station to complete the remaining process like identity verification, fingerprint scanning and document verification.

National Police Clearance Sample

The national police clearance contains basic information about the applicant such as their name, gender, photo, signature and others. The police clearance shows if there are any criminal records/history on the applicant or not. If there are no records, it clearly states as No Record on File. Here I provide the national police clearance sample as under:
National Police Clearance Fee
When applying for national police clearance online, you are required to pay the clearance fee of ₱150. The NPCS payment system is integrated with various authorized payment centers, where applicants can pay and receive an official receipt for successful transactions.
The Philippine National Police offers various methods for payment of clearance fee, you can choose your suitable method and pay your clearance fee easily.

The banks, mobile companies and third-party payment partners charge convenience fee to allow clearance fee payment through their channel/gateway. This convenience fee is often between ₱10 and ₱30, you must pay the clearance fee plus addition charge as per rules.
National Police Clearance Requirements
The Philippine National Police have set some basic requirements for national police clearance application. These requirements include basic communication details and identification documents of the applicant. Before applying for national police clearance online, you must fulfill its requirements given as under:
For Online Registration and Appointment Booking:

How to Apply for National Police Clearance Online

The Philippine National Police have shifted the National Police Clearance Application Online from in-person traditional process. As per new NPCS application system, you need to register online and book an online appointment before visiting a police station.
The National Police Clearance Application Process is very easy, just follow the steps that I have shared here to get your police clearance.

- Online Registration and Sign In
- Edit Profile and Fill up Online Application
- Apply for National Police Clearance
- Select Clearance Purpose and Set Appointment Date and Time
- Select Police Station for Appointment
- Save Appointment and Note Reference Number
- Pay Clearance Fee Online and Print Payment Receipt
- Visit Concerned Police Station on Appointment Day
- Complete Remaining Process and Collect the Clearance
Now I will explain each step to get National Police Clearance in detail, you should read them carefully.
#1. Access PNP NPCS Portal:
Before starting the application process, make sure that you have all documents ready as well as you have a valid email and mobile number required for national police clearance online registration and application.
I recommend to use a computer or laptop with a stable internet connection to apply for national police clearance and book online appointment, you can also use your mobile phone. You need to open a web browser and go to NPCS website portal at www.pnpclearance.ph.

#2. Online Registration and Sign In:
As you access NPCS portal, you need to find Register or Sign In section. If you are accessing the NPCS portal first time then you must complete online registration and then proceed to sign in.

- On NPCS portal homepage, select Register option.
- Click on Begin and complete human verification.
- Tick the box to Accept NPCS Agreement, Privacy Policy and click Next.
- Tick the box to Accept Terms & Conditions and click Next.
- Tick all remaining boxes and click on I Agree.
- Provide a valid & active email and create a strong password.
- Enter your First Name, Middle Name, Last Name, Gender, Birth Date and Qualifier details.
- Click on Register to proceed.
- Check your inbox to find an email from NPCS, open that email and click on verification link to verify & activate your NPCS Account.
Once you activate your NPCS Account, the National Police Clearance online registration process is over. Please remember your password because you will need to provide your email and password to sign in to NPCS portal.

- Go to NPCS Portal (pnpclearance.ph) and click on Sign In.
- Click on Begin and complete human verification.
- Enter your email and password correctly.
- click on Sign In to access your NPCS Account.
#3. Edit Profile and Fill up Online Application:

After sign in to your NPCS Account, you need to edit your profile to add your personal information required for national police clearance online application.

- Click on Edit Profile and fill up your personal information.
- Provide your Birth Certificate Registration Number, Birth Place and Nationality.
- Provide your Mobile Number, Telephone Number and Residential Address in the Philippines.
- Provide your Height, Weight, Complexion, Identifying Marks, Blood Type, Religion, Education and Occupation details.
- Provide your Family Background including your father, mother and spouse information.
- Finally, click on Save Profile to finish.
PWD: Tick the PWD box if you are a person with disability having a valid PWD ID/Certificate, you can get the national police clearance for free forever.
FTJS: Tick the FTJS box if you are a First Time Jobseeker Filipino Citizen with a valid Barangay Certificate, you can get the national police clearance free for one-time.
#4. Apply for National Police Clearance:

After updating your profile information, you need to proceed to apply for national police clearance online. Just click on Clearance Application to proceed to the next step.
#5. Select Clearance Purpose and Set Appointment Date and Time:

As you click on Clearance Application, you will reach to a new page where you need to select your purpose of applying for clearance and set the date & time slot for your appointment.
Choose Clearance Purpose
- Kindly select General Purpose if you are applying for national police clearance for employment, business permit/license, education/scholarship, foreign travel, legal and other general purposes.
- Select LTOPF as purpose if you want to use the police clearance as a document to apply for License to Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF) in the Philippines.
- Select SOSIA as purpose if you are going to use the police clearance as a document to apply for new/renewal of Security Guard License/Accreditation under Supervisory Office for Security and Investigation Agencies (SOSIA) in the Philippines.
Set Appointment Date and Time
Kindly select a date on which you are available to visit the police station for your clearance appointment. You can see the calendar with appointment time slots details, click on AM or PM option on your desired date and book a slot for your national police clearance appointment at a police station.
#6. Select Police Station for Appointment:
After choosing your clearance appointment schedule, you need to select a police station for appointment. Kindly check the list of police stations and choose the one that is close to your location so that you can visit there easily on your appointment day.
#7. Save Appointment and Note Reference Number:

After selecting a police station for your clearance appointment, you should click on Save Changes and note down the Reference Number. You will need to provide your Reference Number at concerned police station on your appointment day. The police personnel will use the reference number to process your clearance application.
#8. Select Transactions, Pay Clearance Fee and Print Payment Receipt:
After setting appointment and choosing police station, get back to the dashboard and click on Transactions. Select Police Clearance (with Appearance) option and read the instructions given on screen.

Note: If you want to change your selected police station or appointment date/time, you can do it by click on the given option. Kindly remember that you will NOT be able to change the appointment schedule once the fee is paid.
Select Pay to LANDBANK to proceed to clearance fee payment. Choose your suitable payment method and make fee payment of ₱150 plus transaction fee (if any).

After the fee payment is successful, please print the payment receipt as you will need to submit it on your appointment day.

Warning: You must pay the clearance fee within two banking days of appointment booking otherwise your appointment will get cancelled automatically.
#9. Visit Concerned Police Station on Appointment Day:
You need to visit your selected police station on your appointment day, prepare following documents a day before the appointment and carry them with you to the police station.
- Two Valid Government IDs (Original)
- Reference Number
- Fee Payment Receipt
- Barangay Certificate (for First Time Jobseekers)
- PWD Certificate/ID (for Persons with Disability)
With above mentioned documents, visit your selected police station on the appointment day.
#10. Complete Remaining Process and Collect the Clearance:
Reach the police station 10 minutes before your appointment time and follow the steps given here.
Strict Advice: Please wear casual outfit that covers your body properly. Sleeveless, Crop, Short and Body Part(s) Revealing Clothes are Not allowed for clearance appointment at the police station.
- Visit concerned police station, go to the clearance counter.
- Provide your Reference Number and Fee Payment Receipt.
- Register your fingerprints and signature.
- Get your live photo captured, it will appear on your police clearance.
- Submit your original documents for verification and background check.
After completing the process at the police station, you will have to sit in the waiting space for some minutes. Soon the police personnel will speak your name loudly, then you can go to the desk to collect your police clearance and your documents. Thereafter you can exit the police station.
National Police Clearance “Hit” Status
When checking your background during clearance appointment, if the police find a clean record then it is called a national police clearance with No HIT. Such a police clearance is released instantly and you can get it in 10-15 minutes after completing the appointment.
When checking your background, if the police find any matching criminal history or crime record then they will ask for more documents to do deeper checking. The police may call you for a one-to-one interview to discuss the HIT issue.
If there is one or more HIT issues, you may not get your police clearance on the appointment day. The police personnel may ask you to visit the police station after 2-3 days to collect your national police clearance.
[A] HIT is Not Proved: If the HIT issue on your name was a coincidence, the police will release the police clearance with No HIT which you can collect from concerned police station.
[B] HIT is Proved: In case the HIT on your name is proved to be true (you have a criminal record) then the police will release your National Police Clearance with HIT. Such a police clearance contains HIT information clearly written on it.
Free National Police Clearance
For First Time Jobseekers (FTJS)
The First Time Job Seeker Assistance Act (officially called Republic Act No.11261) waives off the fees/charges for obtaining National Police Clearance, NBI Clearance and all Government issued documents required for employment application(s) for fresh applicants.
The RA 11261 is applicable to the Filipino Citizens who are looking for a job for the first time. If you are a Filipino Citizen First Time Jobseeker then you can get the national police clearance for free for one-time.
Note: The national police clearance is free only one-time for first time jobseekers. When the clearance expires, the applicant will have to pay the applicable fee for the police clearance as per rules.
For Persons with Disability (PWD)
The persons with disability (PWD) applicants can get national police clearance free for lifetime. They just need to tick the PWD box in Online Police Clearance Application Form and submit their PWD ID/Certificate as a proof.
If you are a differently abled person then you can apply for national police clearance new and renewal for free. You don’t need to pay any fee, you can get free police clearance for life, provided that you have a valid PWD ID.
National Police Clearance Validity
The national police clearance has a fixed validity of six months. The Philippine National Police mention the clearance issue date and expiry date on the clearance certificate. So, you can take a look on your police clearance to find out when its validity will get over.
For example: If your national police clearance is issued on 15 January 2026 then it will remain valid till 15 July 2026. From 16 July 2026 onwards, your police clearance will become invalid and you will have to renew it as per National Police Clearance System Rules.
Difference between National Police Clearance & Local Police Clearance
Both the national police clearance and local police clearance are valid official certificate documents issued by the Philippine Police. But they are different based on their coverage area and some other factors. Let us take a look on some differences between local police clearance and national police clearance in brief.
- Issuing Authority: The local police clearance is issued by the local police station of respective city/town. On the other hand, the national police clearance is issued by the police stations that are assigned and authorized to issue it.
- Clearance Coverage: The local police clearance is recognized and accepted as a valid document within the concerned city/municipality region. The national police clearance is recognized and accepted as a valid document across entire Philippines country and also abroad for Filipino Citizens working or willing to work in other country.
- Application Process: The location police clearance application form is available at local police stations and its process is offline. The national police clearance application online available at NPCS website, the applicant must register online, book appointment and pay clearance fee, thereafter they can visit respective police station to complete the process and obtain national police clearance.
- Clearance Fee: The local police clearance fee varies from one city to the other, it lies between ₱50 and ₱150. But the national police clearance fee is ₱150 fixed in the entire country. The transaction fee or convenience charges may apply, should be paid by the applicant.
- Validity: Both the local police clearance and national police clearance have six months validity. So, there is no difference in their validity.
National Police Clearance without Visiting Police Station
The Philippine National Police provide national police clearance certification without appearance to four special categories of people. Such people can apply for national police clearance online and obtain their clearance certificate without visiting any police station.
